Buy Cash With a Credit Card

As I was surfing through my regular sites this evening I ran across a “deal” the US Mint is currently promoting. It is called the “Circulating $1 Coin Direct Ship Program“. They are offering to sell $250 and $500 quantities of $1 coins to the general public. Yeah, yeah, I know, why would you want trade in your cash for dollar coins. You don’t have too. They are allowing you to purchase these coins with any major credit card. That way if you’ve got a credit card that has a great rewards program you can buy your coins and then deposit them directly back in the bank and pay off your credit card. Shipping charges are also covered by the US Mint. So it really is an exchange of dollar for coin.

I know this may not be worth it for some, but I figured I’d throw it out there. An idea would be to open up a Citi Professional Credit Card that gives the $100 gift card bonus. However, in order to qualify for the $100 gift card you must make combined purchases of over $250. Why not trade money for money and pick up an extra $100 in the process.

Interesting thought. It may not be worth the hassle for simply getting an extra 500 reward points, but if your planning to sign up for a credit card that offers an initial reward it would work perfect.

    Thanks
